Arnhem 80
To commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Battle of Arnhem - the battle where our namesake Stanley Biggs served and died - the brand has arranged a number of projects.
Located at We Have Ways History Festival, over thirty collectors and living historians came together to achieve the an authentic living history display portraying the Medical Dressing Stations of 181 Air Landing Field Ambulance, RAMC during the Battle of Arnhem.
This display was open to the public and allowed them to learn more of the individuals involved and the conditions they faced.
As part of this display, we filmed the display to create our own authentic footage, using an original cine-camera of the type used by the Army Film & Photographic Unit during the Battle of Arnhem.
The film pays testament to the important role the AFPU played, ensuring those involved in the battle were forever captured on film for future generations to learn of their experiences.
Cine-Reel
During the 80th Commemorations, owner of the brand and keen historian, Sophie returned to Oosterbeek. Using official unit diaries and first hand accounts, Sophie documented and retraced Stanley's Unit from the Landing Zone to Stanley's final resting place.
The full documentary, 'Stanley's War' is available to watch via the link below.
Our intention is to educate and to respectfully remember all who were involved in the battle that took place in and around Arnhem and Oosterbeek in The Netherlands from 17th-26th September 1944.
Stanley Biggs Clothiers is proud to be an Official Partner of The Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
