The Turpin is our take on the heavyweight T-shirt. Its straight cut, sturdy ribbed neck and traditional proportions draw on 1940s JC Penney undershirts that we researched over the years.
Made in England from 9oz South American cotton jersey, it has a dense, structured feel that softens with wear. Reinforced seams and bar-tacked stress points add strength where it matters. With no logo or unnecessary detailing, the fabric and fit do the work.
The story behind the name
The Turpin is named after Randolph Turpin, the boxer from Leamington Spa who defeated Sugar Ray Robinson in 1951 to become world middleweight champion. Few expected him to win. His determination and that extraordinary result made his name one we wanted to remember.
