The jumper is named after Sir Barnes Neville Wallis, the celebrated engineer and inventor born in Ripley, Derbyshire, only a few miles from the Stanley Biggs studio. His remarkable career encompassed airship design, experimental aircraft and the development of the bouncing bomb, later immortalised in The Dam Busters.
